About
Associate Professor IV in the Department of Social Sciences at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), where he works in the field of Anthropology. Permanent Professor in the Joint Graduate Program in Anthropology (UFC-UNILAB). Collaborating Professor in the Graduate Program in Sociology at UFC. Faculty member of the Intercultural Indigenous Teacher Training Programs Pitakajá and Kuaba at UFC. Coordinator of the Laboratory of Anthropology and Image (LAI/UFC).
He holds a degree in Social Sciences from UFC (Teaching Credential, 1994; Bachelor’s Degree, 1996). He completed a specialization in Health, Labor, and Environment for Sustainable Development (UFC, 1999). He holds a Master’s degree in Sociology (UFC, 2002) and a PhD in Sociology (UFC, 2008).
Research areas: Gender and Diversity; Culture and Social Thought; Narratives, Symbolism, and Emotions. He conducts or has conducted research and/or supervision in the following fields: Economic Anthropology; Political Anthropology; Anthropology of Religion; Urban Anthropology; Medical Anthropology; Labor, Environment, and Culture.
He is the author of the books published by UFC Press: Solidarity Economy as a Cultural and Political Project: The Experience of Banco Palmas; and Religions, Public Space, Tensions and Conflicts in a Plural Scenario.
He currently serves as Head of the Department of Social Sciences at UFC for the 2023–2025 term.
Research interests: Anthropology of Religion; Political Anthropology; Medical Anthropology; Urban Anthropology; Social Movements and Socio-environmental Justice; Visual Anthropology.
