Edemilson Paraná is an Associate Professor in Sociology at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, and a part-time Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at LUT University, Finland, where he also holds the title of Docent in Political Economy of AI and Digital Technologies. He holds a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant and is an Academy Research Fellow of the Research Council of Finland (RCF). He has previously taught at the University of Brasília and the Federal University of Ceará, where he is still affiliated with the Graduate Programme in Sociology. Edemilson has lectured and published in the areas of political economy, economic sociology, and social theory. His research focuses on the political economy of digital finance, artificial intelligence, and emerging neurotechnologies.
